When a website is worth it vs staying on social
Sometimes you do not need a website yet. That is an allowed answer. If every customer already texts you, you are booked out, and nobody has asked for a URL, a site is a vanity plate. Instagram can be a shop window for a while. Facebook can take messages. Google Business Profile can show hours and a map. Plenty of trades ran for years on a phone number and a truck door.
The question is not “do serious companies have websites.” The question is whether a URL would catch money you are currently dropping: people who will not DM a stranger, people who Google the name after a referral, people on a work phone who cannot open Instagram, people who want hours without creating an account.
Cases where social is enough
- You are testing an idea for 60 days and might shut it down.
- You only take work from people you already know.
- Your whole offer is “message me for the menu” and that actually converts.
- You will not answer a form anyway. A site with a dead inbox is worse than no site.
If that is you, spend the weekend on better photos in the app you already use. Come back when someone asks for the website and you wince.
The moment a URL starts paying for itself
A referral says “I’ll look you up.” A lender, a venue, or a city permit wants a link. A reporter asks for a page. You want the name on a card that is not an @handle. Google Business wants a website field and you are tired of sending people into a Facebook wall of baby photos and political rants. That is the moment.
A site also ends the argument about which link is the real one. Bio in Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, Yelp, the Chamber PDF from 2019 — they should all point at one URL you control. Social posts rot. A homepage can sit still with hours, phone, and three real photos.
| Situation | Buy |
|---|---|
| Hours, phone, three photos, this weekend | $49/month hosted website (hosting included on $49/month) |
| Cart, members, app | Not this price — we quote it |
| Social is working and nobody asks for a site | Nothing. Stay. |
What to buy if you decide yes
Most standard jobs finish in under 72 hours when the brief is clear: name, one sentence, photos, current URL if any, domain or a yes that we should help.
We do not promise rankings. Basic SEO is a title, meta description, and Open Graph image. We do not build ecommerce carts, apps, or member portals at this price. Worldwide, 24/7 — Bill is in Tampa, the work is not limited to Tampa. Phone (813) 328-6079. Forms notify tampasbestdj@gmail.com.
If you already have some URL — a Linktree, a Facebook page, a 2014 WordPress — run the free check before you spend. If the score is high and people already call, stay. If the form 404s and there is no tap-to-call, that is the work.
Free next step: paste whatever you have now. The $49 hosted plan: $49 down, then $49/month.
