Social vs a site

A Facebook page is not a website

Cheap Fast Websites · updated August 25, 2026

A Facebook page is not a website. It is a stall in someone else's mall. You post. They decide who sees it. You pay for ads to reach people who already liked you. A stranger reports a photo and the page goes dark. That is a rental, not an asset.

A website is a page at a name you bought. It loads for a person who does not have Facebook, will not make an account, and is sitting in a parking lot looking for your hours. It still works when Meta has an outage. It still works when the intern who “runs the page” loses the login. You can print it on a van, a receipt, and a Google Business listing. You cannot do that with a facebook.com tab and call it ownership.

What Facebook is actually good for

Daily photos. Event posts. Messenger with people already in the app. Boosting a Saturday special. If your customers live in Facebook, you should still be there. None of that is an argument against a real URL. It is an argument for using the app as a hallway, not as the office.

Facebook will also change the layout, hide the phone number behind a click, and push you to run ads. That is their business. It is not yours. A page that looks busy in the app can still fail the only test that matters: can a stranger reach you in ten seconds without logging in.

When Facebook is enough

A weekend pop-up. A hobby you might quit. A food truck that already has a line and only needs a photo of today’s board. If every customer already messages you in the app and you are fine with that, skip the site for now.

The moment someone asks “what’s your website?” and you say “just Facebook,” you are asking them to log into a product they may hate, may have deleted, or may not be allowed to use at work. Older customers, corporate buyers, and anyone on a work phone will bounce. Instagram has the same problem with a different coat of paint.

Both, not either

Most shops we build already have a Facebook page. We do not tell you to delete it. We put the real hours, the tap-to-call number, and a form on a URL you own. Then you paste that URL on the Facebook About tab. The $49/month hosted website is the floor if all you need is name, hours, phone, and three photos.

Most standard jobs finish in under 72 hours when the brief is clear. Worldwide, 24/7. Call (813) 328-6079 if you want a human on the phone.

Free next step: paste the URL you have now — Facebook, a half-built site, whatever.
