Google Sites is a crate. Sometimes a crate is enough.
Google Sites is free. It lives next to your Docs. You can share a URL. For a family reunion, a PTA night, or a one-weekend event, that is a rational product. For a business that wants a stranger to call, it is usually a crate with a lock icon missing or a form you will never check.
This shop does not hate free tools. We hate paying later to replace a page that never had a tap-to-call number. If you already like Google Sites and customers find you, stay. If you opened this tab because the page looks like a school assignment, keep reading.
What Google Sites actually is
It is a document that happens to have a public URL. You get templates, a simple editor, and hosting on Google. You do not get a portable codebase. Leaving is a rebuild. Custom domains work if you fight DNS. Forms dump into a spreadsheet you have to watch. Mobile is “fine until it isn’t.” Share previews are often a blank square because nobody set Open Graph.
That is not a moral failing. It is a product for internal pages. People stretch it into a company homepage because the price is $0 and the login already exists.
| Google Sites | Hire this shop | |
|---|---|---|
| Who designs it | You + a Google template | Us, from your brief and photos |
| Phone on a thumb | If you remember to put it there | Yes, if you give us the number |
| Title / meta / share image | Often missing | In the job. Not a ranking prize |
| You can pick it up and leave | Not really | Yes — files and a host you control |
| Cart / app / members area | No | Not at this price. Quoted separately |
When free is the right call
- The “business” is a one-day event and the URL dies on Monday.
- You are testing an idea and might shut it down in 30 days.
- Everyone who needs the page already has the link in a group chat.
- You enjoy tinkering and you will actually log in next month.
If that is you, do not hire us. Google Sites, a Canva site, or a Carrd page can be enough. A $49/month hosted website is the next step up if you want someone else to type it and you still only need hours and a phone.
When hiring is cheaper than free
Free is expensive when the form goes to a spreadsheet nobody opens, the title tag says “Home,” and a customer on a phone has to pinch-zoom a three-column table. That is how shops lose the call they already paid to get. The free check scores the boring basics: HTTPS, title, mobile, contact path, share image. Paste the Sites URL. If it fails contact or share, you do not have a branding problem. You have a “this is not a website yet” problem.
Hiring here is not an agency retainer. Pay on /sale/. Brief: name, what you do, photos of the real work, domain or host. Draft. One revision. Most standard marketing sites finish in under 72 hours when the brief is clear. A person proofs it before a customer is told it is live. Phone (813) 328-6079. Forms notify tampasbestdj@gmail.com.
We do not promise #1 on Google. Title, meta, Open Graph. That is the SEO in the job. See what basic SEO actually is.
If you are still on a builder because leaving feels huge, read leaving Wix and GoDaddy Website Builder vs paying once. Same shape: rent vs a thing you can move. Google Sites is the free end of that spectrum.
Live work from this shop: /work/. Labeled samples (fictional shops, not fake clients): /examples/. Hire path if you already decided you are not DIY: /hire/. Worldwide, 24/7. Bill is in Tampa / Zephyrhills. No public storefront.
Free next step: paste the Google Sites URL. If the score is high, stay. If the contact path or share image is missing, that is the work — not a new slogan. The $49 hosted plan: $49 down, then $49/month.
