Squarespace is pretty. You still do not own the house.
Squarespace’s pitch is taste. The templates are prettier than most DIY tools. That is real. The lock-in is also real: you design inside their walls, you pay their subscription, and a move later is a rebuild.
What people like
Photographers, studios, and restaurants that want a composed look without hiring a designer. The editor is calmer than WordPress. Support exists. For a lot of people that is enough.
What people bump into
- SEO and extra pages get fiddly compared with a simple custom page.
- Commerce is “fine until it isn’t” — apps and fees stack.
- You are still the one who has to write the copy and pick the photos. A pretty blank page is still blank.
The alternative we sell
You brief it, we draft it, you get one round of changes, it goes live on Bluehost or the host you already have. No Squarespace login. The homepage of this company is itself a sample — it even ships in seven looks.
If all you need is hours + phone + three pictures, use the $49/month hosted website.
Already on Squarespace? Paste the URL. If the score is high, stay. If the contact path, titles, or share image are missing, that is the work — not a new template.
